Eligibility
New arrivals to the United States and Minnesota eligible for Office of Refugee Resettlement Benefits including:
  • Refugees
  • Amerasians
  • Asylees and Derivative asylees (family members joining asylees)
  • Certified Victims of Human Trafficking
  • Cuban and Haitian entrants (including humanitarian parolees)
  • Humanitarian parolees from Afghanistan
  • Humanitarian parolees from Ukraine
  • Special Immigrant Visa holders
Application process
Contact the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Refugee Health Program at [email protected] or (651) 201-5414 to schedule a health assessment or with questions. The MDH Refugee Health Program, and local public health partners, arrange this exam and it cannot be scheduled directly with clinics.

Trained medical professionals provide a health exam to refugees, and other eligible new arrivals to Minnesota, that may identify and treat health problems that could interfere with resettlement activities. Minnesota's Refugee and International Health Program partners with local health departments, private health care providers, and community organizations to offer each new refugee arrival a comprehensive screening examination, appropriate follow-up or referral, and community-based health education.
