Employment Support for Workers with Disabilities

180 5th St E, Ste 1200, St. Paul, MN 55101

Eligibility

Eligibility is based primarily on whether a person has a physical or mental disability that makes it difficult to prepare for, get or keep work. Consideration is also given to how seriously the person is limited by the disability, and if the person can benefit from services. Vocational Rehabilitation Services also may rely on reports from the person's doctor or other professionals and consider such factors as the person's ability to:
  • Get from one place to another
  • Talk and listen to others
  • Take care of themselves
  • Make and carry out plans
  • Get along with others
People who are eligible to receive Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability Insurance benefits based on their own disability and have not yet reached full retirement age are automatically eligible, unless they are too severely disabled to benefit from services.
