Eligibility

Dial-A-Ride service is available to everyone for any reason. In cities where both bus-route and Dial-A-Ride exist, some eligibility restrictions do apply to the Dial-A-Ride service. Volunteer Transportation Program may be an option for participants:
  • Over 60 years of age
  • Have medical transportation coverage through insurance
  • Receive transportation support through a county waiver program

Application process

Dial-A-Ride: Schedule a ride online or by calling the dispatch center.
  • Individuals are served on a first come, first serve basis. It is recommended that individuals reserve their trip 24 hours in advance.
  • Individuals needing wheelchair accommodations should indicate this to the dispatcher when scheduling a trip.
To request a ride through the Volunteer Transportation Program, call (866) 623-7505, option 2.
  • Individuals are served on a first come, first serve basis. Please give a minimum of 72-hour advanced notice for all rides.
  • At this time, this program doesn't accommodate wheelchairs.

Fees

Dial-A-Ride fare:
  • One-way ride, $2.50
  • Exact fares only. Drivers do not make change.
Volunteer Transportation Program:
  • Operates as a cost-share program and amounts are based on Federal Poverty Guidelines, which will be discussed during intake.

MORE INFORMATION Hiawathaland Transit is sponsored by Three Rivers and provides a Dial-A-Ride service. The Volunteer Transportation Program is funded by Title III Older Americans Act grant and helps older adults and other community members with transportation when other options are not available.
