Transportation - Dial-a-Ride (STRIDE)

Eligibility
Success Through Reaching Individual Development and Employment (STRIDE): Individuals whose disabilities prevent them from boarding, riding on, or deboarding regular route Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) buses may qualify for this service. A physician's statement is required. People with temporary disabilities are eligible while the condition exists.

Application process
Contact agency before trying to ride. Call them or apply online. STRIDE staff will ask a few simple questions and then send a certification package. When you get the application, be sure to give the form to your physician to complete and send to STRIDE. STRIDE staff will review the information and contact you as to your eligibility. STRIDE Transit office hours: 7:30am - 4:00am, Monday - Friday Trips can be scheduled up to 7 days in advance. Cancellations must be made at least two (2) hours in advance of the scheduled pick-up time.
Fees
The fare for Success Through Reaching Individual Development and Employment (STRIDE) is $1.50 during off-peak hours and $3.00 during peak hours. Peak hours are from 7:00am - 9:00am and from 2:30pm - 6:00pm on weekdays. All other times are considered off-peak hours. Fares must be paid in exact change. For your convenience, books containing 10 tickets are also available for purchase from the STRIDE drivers. Personal Care Attendants ride for free.

MORE INFORMATION Special Transit Ride is a dial-a-ride curb to curb transportation service. It is designed for people with disabilities who cannot access the regular route buses. It operates within 3/4 of a mile of the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) regular routes in the City of Superior and within the city boundaries of Duluth and Proctor. Riders may also transfer or be asked to transfer between Special Transit Ride and the DTA regular route where there is accessible service. Please call a day before a ride is needed. Travel training is available to use the fixed-route transit.
