Residents are typically older, frail (physically weak), or chronically ill (sick often or for a long time). Nursing homes are staffed 24 hours per day by trained nursing staff including licensed nurses and registered nurse aides. Most nursing homes in Minnesota are certified to participate in federal Medicare and Medicaid programs.
