A group of people that meet on a regular basis to share their experiences and provide mutual support. MORE INFORMATION A longstanding support group with a social club angle that meets in a relaxed environment where brain injury individuals connect with each other, share food and drink, and to build friendships and a social community. Advice, support and comfort for people and their families, all are welcome. Care staff are also welcome to attend. The age range of individuals who attend this group is from 25 - 75. Provides a peer-led support group and social club is designed for high-function acquired brain injuries and traumatic brain injuries. Starting each meeting is the "roundtable member check-in" providing each individual attending, if they so choose, the time to share their last month's trials and tribulations, their ups and downs. There are occasional specific subjects of discussion or planned speakers, an occasional music jam session, and social chatter over beverages and snacks to share that are brought by the facilitator and members. On occasion there are planned activities including: art projects, viewing movies often related to brain injury, political action updates and activities around disability policy change or other topical activities of interest. Group members may also choose to attend the state capital on Tuesdays during the congressional session in coordination with the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance and Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities.
