Powerful Tools for Caregivers

Eligibility
Family caregivers of older adults with disabilities or long-term health conditions. Caregivers may be caring for a spouse, partner, friend, or adult children caring for parents. The older adult you are caring for can be living with you, in a care facility, down the block or miles away.
Fees
A sliding fee scale payment or contribution may be requested for the class manual.

Specialization

  • Caregivers
A class series that supports caregivers in taking care of yourself while caring for someone else. By taking care of your own health and well-being, you become a better caregiver. Six classes held once a week are led by experienced class leaders. Class participants are given The Caregiver Helpbook to accompany the class and provide additional caregiver resources. Focuses on improving self-care by learning a new set of skills or "tools." Topics include:
  • Reduce stress
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Manage time, set goals, and solve problems
  • Communicate in challenging situations
  • Make tough decisions
  • Locate helpful resources
