Director (retired)

Julie Quinn is a graduate from College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota. She started her career with the state as a computer operator with the Land Management Information Center at the State Planning Agency, before becoming a Weights & Measures Investigator for what was then the Department of Public Service.

Over the years, she has held several positions throughout the Department of Commerce. Julie has over 35 years of experience in state government. Her most recent position before retirement was Director of Weights and Measures.

During her career she volunteered as a liaison on the Central Weights and Measures Association (CWMA), and the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM).

She was the founder and first chair of the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) Safety Awareness Sub-committee.

She has authored numerous safety articles for the NCWM newsletter which can be found on their safety page at NCWM.net.

Now that she is retired, she is contemplating writing a book for other technical experts who find themselves with safety responsibilities - something along the lines of "How to Start and Maintain a Safety Program."
