2019 Holiday Self-Guided Tours

Join us for the 2019 Holiday Tour Season at the Minnesota Governor's Residence.

Holiday Tour Dates & Times

  • Tuesday, December 10: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Friday, December 13: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 17: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

No reservations are required. Tours will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Holiday Performances at the Residence

The following performers will be volunteering during the holiday tours:

  • December 10: Armstong Chamber Singers
  • December 13: Paulette Day, Pianist (evening tour)
  • December 17: South St. Paul Secondary Choir

There is no fee for the tour, however, please consider bringing a monetary donation or non-perishable food item for Second Harvest Heartland.

About the Holiday Self-Guided Tour

The interior of the home is expertly decorated by local designers, who have created signature looks for the public spaces at the Residence. The following designers have generously donated the design, materials, and installation of the holiday decorations.

  • Ingebretsen's Scandinavian Gifts, Minneapolis
  • Michelle Havens, Minneapolis
  • Pottery Barn, Grand Avenue, St. Paul
  • Studio Emme, Minneapolis/St. Paul
  • Lake Harriet Florist, Minneapolis

In the Solarium, there will be a live 10-foot Fraser Fir tree and on the Terrace will be two Balsam Fir. They are the three are Reserve Grand Champion trees from the Minnesota State Fair. During the tours, volunteer docents from the Women’s Auxiliary of the Minnesota Historical Society will be available to answer questions in each room on the First Floor and Lower Level of the Residence. The 1006 Summit Avenue Society will be offering a selection of merchandise available for purchase at each tour. Proceeds from the sale will help to support the historic Residence.

The Summit Avenue entrance plants and décor are donated by Heidi’s Lifestyle Gardens from Corcoran, Minnesota. A 20-foot-tall white spruce will be on display on the front lawn of the Residence. The tree was harvested from the General C.C. Andrews State Forest, near Willow River by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and members of Conservation Corps Minnesota. Rocket Crane Company donated services to help with the installation of the tree and it is decorated by Rainbow Holiday Design with over 14,000 LED lights.

The gates outside the Residence decorated with fresh spruce garland and wreaths hang on the front doorway are donated by Mickman Brothers from Ham Lake, Minnesota. Four holiday baskets are hung under the porte-cochere are donated by Bachman’s Floral Gift and Garden from South Minneapolis.
