Jim Hibbs

Senior Research Analyst

Jim Hibbs is a Senior Research Analyst with the MN State Demographic Center. He is responsible for preparing the annual population and household estimates for all counties, cities and townships outside the seven-county Twin Cities area. Jim serves as liaison to the Population Estimates Branch at the Census Bureau and certifies boundary changes for the Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) conducted by the Census Bureau. Jim is also the state representative to the Federal-State Cooperative Program for Estimates (FSCPE) and is currently chair of its Input Data Working Group.

Jim grew up in Blue Earth, Minnesota. He earned a B.A. degree in economics from Carleton College and a master's degree in regional planning (MRP) from Cornell University. He has been with the state's demography office since 1978 and has had the pleasure of working with all three of Minnesota's State Demographers. Contact Jim at (preferred) or 651-201-2471.
