Register for Training

The Minnesota Office of Continuous Improvement now uses the State of Minnesota's Enterprise Learning Management (ELM) system to manage registrations for its training sessions.

Training courses and dates currently open for registration are posted on our Calendar page. Trainees can sign up for the courses within ELM, which will display detailed information about each training session, including date, time, location and more.

Accessing Enterprise Learning Management (ELM)

  • State employees: Access ELM within the Employee Self Service portal, where timesheets, pay stubs, and other employee resources are accessed.
    • As a reminder, your ELM User ID is your eight digit employee ID number.
  • Non-state employees: Fill out this request form to register for an ELM account. Once granted, you will access ELM the same way that state employees do.

Registering for Training

Follow these steps to register for training courses:

  1. Log in to the Employee Self Service portal.
  2. From the Main Menu, click the link for "Learning."
  3. Within the menu for Learning, "Search Catalog."
  4. Use the search term "Improvement" to see all Office of CI courses.
    • Note, you can find also click "Browse Catalog" to review Office of CI courses under various learning categories. Most are listed under the category Business Skills.
  5. After searching, you will be presented with a list of course options, reflecting the schedule on our Calendar page.
  6. Click on a course title to see more about a session, including time, location, prerequisites, and available seats.
  7. Click on "Enroll" or "Select" to sign up for the course of your choice.
  8. Follow the prompts and when you see the confirmation page, click "Submit Enrollment" to finish the registration process.
  9. You will receive an Enrollment Confirmation email in your inbox. It will include a calendar file attachment, which you can use to place a reminder on your calendar.

Additional Registration Information

  • There are a limited amount of spaces available in each training sessions. If a training session is full, you will have the option to enroll on the event's waitlist. If you enroll on the waitlist and space becomes available, you will be automatically added to the training roster and notified as such.
  • ELM keeps a record of your training activity, tracking the various courses you've completed. For state employees, this means even if you move to a job at another agency, your training data will remain with you. You can view your training record by clicking "All Learning" under the Learning section of ELM.
