Free Rides on the Green Line
On Friday, August 11, Saturday, August 12, and Sunday, August 13, enjoy free rides to the State Capitol on board the Metro Green Line, thanks to the support from our friends at the Metropolitan Council! The Green Line's Capitol/Rice Street Station drops off on the northwest corner of the State Capitol.
You can reach the State Capitol on bus routes 3, 16, 62, and more. For complete information on routes and schedules, use Metro Transit's Trip Planner.
Take advantage of the fresh, open air. Whether you have your own bike or not, riding your bike to the Capitol is a breeze!
Nice Ride Bike Sharing
There are three Nice Ride stations located adjacent to the State Capitol. Find them:
- at the Capitol/Rice Street Station on University Avenue and Rice Street;
- west of the Capitol's Upper Mall between the State Office and Transportation Buildings; and
- on the southeast corner of the Capitol's Lower Mall, on Cedar Street.

There are numerous public parking lots and on-street parking spaces near the State Capitol.
Free parking will be available in State-run parking lots and ramps after 4 p.m. on Friday. This includes Ramp F and Lot C on Rice Street, and Centennial Parking Ramp on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. On-street parking is available on Cedar Street, Sherburne Avenue, and other nearby streets. Be sure to pay meter fares where required.
