Job Applications

There are four things you should know when applying for  a job:

  •  You must notify the employer if you need a change or reasonable accommodation in order to complete the application or participate in the job interview.
  •  An employer can’t refuse to consider your application because you request a reasonable accommodation.
  •  Let the employer know as soon as possible if you need the application in an alternative format or will need an accommodation to participate in the job interview.
  • Your request may be in writing or orally.

Step 1 of the worksheet will help you decide which tasks need support so you can start looking at what kinds of A T you will need. You don't need to know all the types of A T available, just ask yourself "is there assistive technology that can help me do this?"
Many people will be able to help you answer this question and guide you through the process of finding and getting that A T.

To prepare for these conversations, complete Step 3 of the worksheet.
