State of Minnesota Accessibility Standards  —  Revised April 29, 2011

The goal of the Accessibility Standard is to improve the accessibility and usability of information technology products and services for all government end-users in the State of Minnesota. The standard incorporates the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Download the PDF

This standard is in response to the accessible technology bill that was signed into law on May 22, 2009, that requires the State to adopt Section 508 standards and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) for developing and maintaining accessible statewide information and telecommunications technology systems and services. (Read the final language of HF 1744.)

These guidelines can help agencies in implementing State of Minnesota Accessibility Standards. 4/29/2010. Read the full document.

State agencies may need to apply for an exception to the Minnesota Accessibility Standards as they apply to any IT product, solution, or electronic content, and should use the following process:

  1. Download and complete the Accessibility Exceptions Request Form (Word document).
  2. Follow the instructions on the form to submit it to The Office of Enterprise Technology.
