NUSA DUA, BALI, INDONESIA--The Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua recently hired four qualified, dedicated workers to help during the three months of its current peak season.

According to a brief item in Thursday's Jakarta Post, the four high school level students, who are deaf and do not speak, work a daily schedule on jobs throughout the luxury resort hotel and kitchens.

Ni Made Sari works in the kitchens and receiving section; Dewa Ayu Alit Setyawati is a cutlery dishwasher; Dading Kalbuhadi is a steward; and Yudi Kurniawan is training in the pastry pantry.

"These young people have done very well and quickly overcame obstacles in understanding orders," said Sheraton Laguna human resources director Erika Isnijati. "They are shy, but their confidence is growing through contact with guests in the hotel area."

The students hope to be hired on permanently when their three-month temporary positions end.
