NETHERFIELD, ENGLAND--Three men and two teenage boys were being held Wednesday over the fire-related death of 77-year-old Stephen Murray.

Christopher Williams, 18, David Williams, 20, and David Byrne, 40, all of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, appeared before the city's magistrates, the BBC reported. The boys, aged 14 and 16, who have not been named, were with the three adults.

All five are charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

Murray, a pensioner who had disabilities that were not disclosed, was asleep Sunday afternoon when his house caught on fire. He lived alone and was not able to escape the blaze. He died later in a local hospital.

Prosecutors have not yet said why they believe the five had allegedly plotted to kill Murray.

The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26.
