Advocates Push For Tax Increase To Shorten Waiting Lists
January 10, 2003

DENVER, COLORADO--The waiting list for services for children born with developmental disabilities in Denver is so long that many children are too old to get the services they need by the time their names move to the top of the list.

Adults can wait up to 10 years for services.

Families and allies are trying to change that.

They want the city to increase property taxes to add $6.8 million for community-based services.

Thursday, they delivered to the state 7,000 signatures to place a measure on the May ballot.
