Notice of Cosponsorship Funds for Leadership Training Conferences

The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was pleased to announce the availability of a total of $ 4,500 in cosponsorship funds for training conferences held in Minnesota and supporting the participation of Minnesota residents.  Conferences would focus on providing best practices information in the field of developmental disabilities and leadership skills training. The primary audience for these conferences must have been people with developmental disabilities and their families. Notice of Request for Proposals for Partners in Policymaking®

The Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was pleased to announce the availability of $210,000 in federal funds under provisions of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act) (P.L. 106-402) (DD Act) for Replication of the Minnesota Partners in Policymaking® Program and All Related Activities.

Proposals were being sought from any public organization, private for profit business, or private non-profit organization that has 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The GCDD will make a single award of $210,000 to replicate the eight-month Partners leadership training program and carry out all related activities.  Funding was available for a five year time period but one-year at a time.  Continuation funding was dependent upon the availability of federal funds, satisfactory performance of the contractor, and any changes in the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (DD Act) resulting from Congressional action.

Proposal deadline was Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.  (2/5/18)

Notice of Request for Proposal for Cultural Outreach in Racial and Ethnic Communities

The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was pleased to announce the availability of a total of $ 50,000 in federal funds under provisions of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act)(P.L. 106-402) to support the development of leadership skills in racial and ethnic communities; increase awareness and knowledge, and develop skills that will encourage participation in other leadership training programs; join with the larger disability rights movement; and fulfill the Five Year State Plan. Proposals were being sought from any public or private organization or any non-profit organization. The GCDD will award a single grant of $ 50,000. Proposals must have included personal support to participants learning about services and how to access them; beginning leadership and communication skills; and an introduction to the concepts of the Partners in Policymaking® program to adults with disabilities and parents of young children with developmental disabilities in minority communities. Notice of Request for Proposal for the Employment of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was pleased to announce the availability of a total of $80,000 in federal funds under provisions of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act)(P.L. 106-402) to increase opportunities and supports needed by individuals with developmental disabilities to be employed in integrated settings at or above minimum wage and benefits, and to fulfill the Five Year State Plan.  Proposals were being sought from any public or private organization or any non-profit organization.  The GCDD awarded a single grant of $ 80,000.  Proposals must have addressed educating and building the capacity of employers, providing person centered supports for a broad range of employment options, increasing and improving access to inclusive post secondary education and training opportunities, and raising expectations about the importance of work experiences prior to and during high school. Notice of Request for Proposals to Strengthen Self Advocacy in Minnesota through a Statewide Coordinating Effort

The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was pleased to announce the availability of a total of $100,000 in federal funds under provisions of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act) (P.L. 106-402) to expand and strengthen self advocacy in Minnesota and to fulfill the Five Year State Plan. Proposals included support of local self advocacy groups at the grassroots level, strengthen existing groups and help develop new self advocacy groups where none currently exist, provide learning and teaching opportunities for self advocates to improve their leadership skills, and expand their participation in cross-disability and culturally diverse coalitions. The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was pleased to announce the availability of a total of $20,000 in federal funds under provisions of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act)(P.L. 106-402) to strengthen self advocacy in Minnesota through an anti-bullying campaign with self advocates as trainers. Proposals addressed the roles and responsibilities of self advocates who would take the lead in teaching and training elementary school children about how to deal with and address bullying issues. Request for Proposal (RFP) - Employment of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities: The Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was pleased to announce the availability of funds for the Employment of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities to meet the Employment Goal and Objectives in the GCDD's Five Year State Plan for FFYs 2012-2016.

A total of $80,000 in federal funds is available under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (P.L. 106-402) to expand this employment project across the state. Application deadline was Monday, September 17, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. (Updated 8/20/12)

The GCDD is funded under the provisions of P.L. 106-402. The federal law also provides funding to the Minnesota Disability Law Center,the state Protection and Advocacy System, and to the Institute on Community Integration, the state University Center for Excellence. The Minnesota network of programs works to increase the IPSII of people with developmental disabilities and families into community life.
