Trainee Corrections Officer with the Minnesota Department of Corrections
Do you have 3 years of experience in any field? If so, you may be qualified to start a career as a Trainee Corrections Officer! WE TRAIN! Applications are currently being accepted through September 26, 2014.
If hired, applicants will complete a six-week training program to learn to enforce Minnesota Correctional Facilities rules and maintain security; supervise offenders in daily living routines; monitor movement and activities, including acting as an offender work crew supervisor; exercise disciplinary control over offenders; and write reports. The training includes a two-week academy program in St. Paul plus a four-week job location training for a total of six-weeks. Training rate of pay is $14.71 per hour.
Upon successful completion of training program trainees are appointed to Corrections Officer 1 with a salary range of $16.34 to $19.39 per hour ($34,118 to $40,486 per year). Corrections Officer 1 will be eligible for promotion to Corrections Officer 2 after one year with a salary range of $17.82 to $25.77 per hour ($37,208 to $53,808 per year).

Facilities are located in Faribault, Lino Lakes, Moose Lake/Willow River, Oak Park Heights, Red Wing, Rush City, Shakopee, St. Cloud, Stillwater, and Togo.
