Calling all Veterans! The Veterans Play Project is pleased to invite you to audition for a new play they are making, based on the experiences of Minnesota military Veterans. All Veterans from all branches, backgrounds, abilities, and age are invited. No performing experience required, and no need to prepare anything, just show up and they’ll keep it easy.

This is an opportunity to be part of a creative team, bringing the experiences of Minnesota Veterans to life to share with other Veterans, friends and family, and civilians, to grow understanding about what it means to serve in the military.

4 SCORE TOWARD THE SUN will be the play performed, written by Anton Jones, with music by Aaron Gabriel, collaboratively developed with professional actors and Veterans, based on stories gathered from over 100 Veterans in Minnesota.

The Veterans Play project is collaboration between Footprints Collective, Mixed Blood Theatre, and Bedlam Theatre. Their mission is to perform a new play about, for, and with Veterans; a play that will tell Veterans’ stories, in their own words and voices.

The Veterans Play Project will be performed by various Veterans and professional theater artists at Base Camp at Fort Snelling in November. However, you can get involved this season by auditioning for the play on Sunday, July 21 (details below).

“The reason Footprint Collective, Mixed Blood Theatre, and Bedlam Theatre are making this play is because we feel there are so many myths and misunderstandings about military service. The play is a representation of many Veterans’ experiences, as shared with us over the last year.” said Leah Cooper, Veterans Play Project Coordinator.”We want to make a play based on real experiences, not media hype or politics or myth or assumptions. This is an opportunity to share your experience, to hear and be heard, to be part of a creative project.”
