Public Assistance Discrimination

Public Assistance Status Discrimination

Discrimination based on public assistance status is illegal in Minnesota. Under the Minnesota Human Rights Act, public assistance status is a “protected class.”

And it is illegal to treat you differently because of your Public Assistance Status in:
  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Public services
  • Education
  • Credit
These are called “protected areas.”
