EVELETH, Minnesota – Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board Commissioner Tony Sertich at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, delivers the commencement address to 172 graduates at Vermilion Community College in Ely. On Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 8:30 a.m., Sertich speaks live to WELY End of Road Radio Station in Ely.
Vermilion Community College, with an enrollment of about 700 students, is one of five member colleges of the Northeast Higher Education District.
The college is recognized for its educational programs that focus on natural resources and outdoors leadership, including Water Quality Science, Watershed Science, Fisheries & Wildlife Management, Wilderness Management and Landscape Ecology.
“Vermilion, along with our other Northeast Higher Education District colleges, are leading the way in offering the type of job-specific training needed to develop northeastern Minnesota’s workforce of the future,” said Sertich. “The Northeast Higher Education District, our industries and the IRRRB are working together in a coordinated partnership to develop new educational programming that provides students with learning opportunities that are tailored to projected job openings in northeastern Minnesota.”
Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m., Sertich will speak live to WELY End of the Road Radio, 94.5 FM, from WELY studios in Ely.
Sertich will focus on the IRRRB’s primary missions of business, community and workforce development. WELY End of the Road Radio is Ely’s only community radio station.
