IRRRB Commissioner Tony Sertich attends "Career Connection"

First Ever Internship Program

EVELETH, Minnesota – Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation Board Commissioner Tony Sertich on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, plans to attend “Career Connection” – First Ever Internship Program at the Mesabi Range Community & Technical College – Eveleth Campus from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. 

“Mesabi Range, along with our other Northeast Higher Education District colleges, is offering the type of job-specific training needed to develop northeastern Minnesota’s workforce,” said Sertich. “Thanks to Mesabi Range and our mining industries for working together to develop new educational programming that provides students with opportunities to connect with our regional employers.” 

The afternoon will kick off with a panel discussion between regional mining companies and vendors moderated by Craig Pagel, President of the Iron Mining Association. Following the panel discussion, students will be able to network with potential employers and possibly participate in opportunities for on-site interviews. 

Companies expected to attend include Cliffs Natural Resources (United Taconite, Hibbing Taconite, and Northshore Mining), Idea Drilling, TriTec, US Steel, ArcelorMittal, Mesabi Nugget, PolyMet, Essar Steel, and L&M Radiator.
