Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) Commissioner Tony Sertich today announced the launch of a new website, madeontherange.com. The website features product and contact information for area businesses that produce, manufacture and sell products in northeastern Minnesota.
Product categories include arts and crafts, books, clothing, food and beverage, home décor, industrial, jewelry, and wood products. There also is a separate section for local service providers.
By launching this website, the agency hopes to market and advertise local businesses and products, create awareness for shoppers within and outside the region, and stimulate the local economy.
“Local buying benefits the entire regional economy, which creates new jobs and economic growth,” said Sertich. “Specifically, buying local means that for each dollar spent at a locally-owned Iron Range business, 68 cents of it remains in the state and local economy.”
With the holiday shopping season underway, Sertich encourages shoppers to check out madeontherange.com. He said, “You will find unique, quality products, while helping our local economy at the same time.”
The idea for the Made on the Range website grew from conversations Sertich and other agency staff members had with a variety of business owners, who requested assistance with marketing and advertising locally-produced products. The website was developed in-house at the IRRRB and is offered as a free service to participating businesses.
Currently, there are about 75 participating businesses, but Sertich hopes to see that number grow. He said, “I know that there are many more businesses in the region that would be a perfect fit for this website, and I strongly encourage them to contact us.”
To be included in the Made on the Range website, please contact Alison Perry at Alison.Perry@state.mn.us or 218-735-3030. Businesses can join on at any time. Listings will be added on an ongoing basis, as they are received.
