Supervision

An LMFT who meets the requirements of Minnesota Rule 5300.0160 may apply to the Board for Board-approved Supervisor status. These requirements include:

  • LMFT licensure for 3 years with a minimum of 3,000 hours of clinical experience

  • Completion of an approved 30-hour supervision training program, or a 3-semester hour, graduate course in MFT supervision, or designation as an AAMFT-approved supervisor

General CE coursework in supervision may not be used to satisfy the 30-hour training requirement. Please review the “30-Hour MFT Supervision Courses” information.

After meeting these requirements, a LMFT may submit a request for approved supervisor status to the Board.
