The supervisor application you should submit depends on the licensees and licensure applicants you intend to supervise. Please review the supervisor requirements below before selecting one of the supervisor applications here:
Minnesota Statutes section 148B.50:
Subd. 2. Approved supervisor. "Approved supervisor" means a licensed professional counselor, licensed psychologist, or other qualified supervisor as determined by the board, who has four years of professional counseling experience and documents to the board the completion of a training in counseling supervision that included content and experiences relevant to the supervision of professional counselors.
Minnesota Rules part 2150.5010:
Subp. 3. Approved supervisor. For the purpose of this part, the supervision must be provided by a supervisor, approved by the board, who must:
A. be a licensed professional counselor, licensed psychologist, or other qualified supervisor as determined by the board;
B. have four years of professional counseling experience; and
C. have received a minimum of 45 hours of formal training in providing counseling supervision, which may include graduate coursework, continuing education courses, workshops, or a combination thereof. A supervisor approved by the board prior to July 5, 2005, is considered to have met the requirements of this subpart.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPERVISORS OF LPCC Applicants Using the Conversion Application Method:
Supervisors of LPCC applicants using the conversion application method (Minn. Stat. sec. 148B.5301, subd. 3) must meet the same criteria listed above for supervisors of LPC applicants and licensees. The supervisor will complete and submit the Supervisor Credential Verification Form or the Supervisor Application, depending upon when supervision occured or will occur.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPERVISORS OF LPCC APPLICANTS Using the General Method:
The supervisor can meet the same criteria listed above for supervisors of LPC applicants and licensees. Additionally, the supervisor must demonstrate their completion of at least two years of post-licensure experience in the delivery of clinical services in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses and disorders. The supervisor will submit the Supervisor Credential Verification Form or the Supervisor Application.
Minnesota Statutes section 148B.5301, subd 2(b), states:
(b) The supervision must have been received under a contract that defines clinical practice and supervision from a mental health professional as defined in section 245.462, subdivision 18, clauses (1) to (6), or 245.4871, subdivision 27, clauses (1) to (6), or by a board-approved supervisor, who has at least two years of postlicensure experience in the delivery of clinical services in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses and disorders.
