Update from the 67th Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener

Governor Dayton was joined in his boat by local fishing guide Ray Gildow, former Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric Magnuson, and Tom Brown. Photos of the Governor’s fishing party are attached. Governor Dayton has not yet caught a fish, but is determined to do so later this morning.

Lt. Governor Prettner Solon was joined in her boat by local fishing guide Toby Kvalevog, her son Matt Prettner, and 8th District Congressman Rick Nolan. Around 1:00am, Lt. Governor Prettner Solon caught her first walleye – and the first fish of the 2014 Governor’s Fishing Opener. Minutes later, she caught her second walleye. Photos of the Lt. Governor’s first catch is attached.

Governor Dayton and Lt. Governor Prettner Solon will begin fishing again this morning after an official sendoff ceremony at 8:00am at the Gull Lake Docks at Grand View Lodge. Members of the press are invited to attend.
