August 13, 2014 - The expansion of the Mankato Civic Center has been six years in the making. And thanks to the 2014 Jobs Bill passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Mark Dayton last May, the project is finally on track to be completed. The Jobs Bill enacted during the last session provided $14.5 million to add an auditorium, additional meeting rooms, and renovate the ice arena. The Civic Center expansion is expected to create more than 450 new construction jobs and generate an annual $50 million economic impact.
August 11, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton held the first in a series of statewide railway safety meetings in Little Canada. Governor Dayton met with local leaders and emergency managers to review the state’s new railway safety laws and to discuss other ways the state can partner with communities to strengthen safety requirements and improve disaster preparedness. In the coming weeks, the Governor will host similar discussions with community leaders and emergency managers along heavily-traveled freight rail routes across Minnesota.

August 04, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton today issued Executive Order Executive Order 14-14, which directs all state government agencies to increase their employment of Minnesotans with disabilities. Over the last 15 years, there has been a steady decline in the proportion of Minnesotans with disabilities employed by the state – from 10.1 percent of the state’s workforce in 1999, to just 3.2 percent in 2013. The Executive Order issued today by Governor Dayton directs state agencies to increase that level to 7 percent by 2018.
