    February 07, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Yesterday, to help improve the transport of propane and other heating fuels across the state, Governor Mark Dayton issued Emergency Executive Order 14-04, extending relief from regulations to motor carriers and drivers operating in the State of Minnesota. Today, Governor Dayton issued Emergency Executive Order 14-05, amending yesterday’s order to include the transport of gasoline, diesel fuel, ethanol, and biodiesel. Governor Dayton issued a proclamation today declaring February 7, 2014, to be Minnesota Winter Olympians Day, and called on all Minnesotans to support our athletes at the Winter Games.

PAUL, MN – In the ongoing effort to increase the supply of propane for Minnesota residents, farms, and businesses, Governor Mark Dayton today issued Emergency Executive Order 14-04. The order extends relief from regulations to motor carriers and drivers operating in the State of Minnesota, in an effort to help improve the transport of propane and other heating fuels across the state.   • After Push from Minnesota Lawmakers and Governor Dayton, Administration Takes Action to Make It Easier to Transport Additional Propane to Minnesota and Other Areas Affected by Ongoing Propane Shortage
    February 05, 2014 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – After a push from U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken and Representatives Collin Peterson, Betty McCollum, Tim Walz, and Rick Nolan, and Governor Mark Dayton, the Administration today announced it is taking action to make it easier to transport additional propane to Minnesota and other areas affected by the ongoing propane shortage. In response to a letter sent by the lawmakers last month, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced that it was extending the State Emergency Declaration hours-of-service exemption to March 1st in the Midwest region. The exemption will give propane suppliers the ability to safely transport propane via roadways from areas with a larger supply to regions affected by the shortage like Minnesota. More than 200,000 households in Minnesota rely on propane as their main source of heat.

A day after expanding eligibility for the state’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) – an executive action that will help tens of thousands more Minnesota households affected by the ongoing propane emergency – Governor Mark Dayton today asked President Obama and members of Congress for additional federal funding to help Minnesotans in this time of crisis.
  • Governor Dayton Expands Heating Assistance Program to Help More Minnesotans
    February 04, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – As Minnesota’s propane emergency continues – with heating fuel prices now three to four times their usual level – Governor Mark Dayton has taken executive action to expand eligibility for the state’s heating assistance program. That action, which was implemented this morning by the state’s Commissioner of Commerce, means an estimated 120,000 more Minnesota households will now qualify for assistance from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The Minnesota Department of Commerce estimates that because of this change, an additional 30,000 to 40,000 newly-eligible Minnesotans will apply for heating assistance this winter.

  • Governor Dayton Names Jaime Tincher New Chief of Staff
    February 04, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced that beginning Tuesday, February 11, Jaime Tincher will serve as his new Chief of Staff. Tincher, who currently serves as Governor Dayton’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative Affairs, will replace outgoing Chief of Staff Tina Flint Smith, who today announced her plans to run for Lieutenant Governor. Smith’s last day in the Governor’s Office will be Monday, February 10.
