    February 21, 2014 - The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that two judgeship vacancies are occurring in Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District Court. These vacancies were created upon the retirements of the Honorable Heather L. Sweetland and the Honorable Dale A. Wolf. Judge Sweetland’s seat will be chambered at Duluth in St. Louis County and Judge Wolf’s seat will be chambered at Carlton in Carlton County.

  • Governor Dayton Proposes Funding Measure to Ensure No Child is Denied Lunch in Minnesota Schools
    February 11, 2014 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton proposed providing additional funding in the upcoming legislative session to ensure that every child has access to a nutritious lunch in Minnesota schools. A new report released this week by Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid revealed that 46 Minnesota school districts have policies that deny students access to a nutritious lunch, if those students do not have sufficient funds to pay for their meal. According to the survey, more than half of all Minnesota school districts provide low-income students alternative meals, such as a cold cheese sandwich, when they are unable to pay the 40 cents required for a reduced-price hot lunch.
  • Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Ninth Judicial District Candidates to Governor Dayton
    February 11, 2014 - The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending three candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancy in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District. This vacancy was created upon the resignation of the Honorable Donald J. Aandal. This district court judgeship will be chambered at Warren in Marshall County in the Ninth Judicial District.
  • Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Court of Appeals Candidates to Governor Dayton
    February 11, 2014 - The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending four candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill two at-large vacancies on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. These vacancies will occur upon the retirements of the Honorable Thomas J. Kalitowski and the Honorable Terri J. Stoneburner.
