    April 09, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Surrounded by students, parents, teachers, and school administrators, Governor Mark Dayton today signed the Safe and Supportive Schools Act (HF826/SF783). The new law, authored by state Sen. Scott Dibble and state Rep. Jim Davnie, strengthens protections against the threat of bullying in Minnesota schools. The new measure provides local school districts the guidance, support, and flexibility to adopt clear and enforceable school policies to help protect all children from bullying, and to reinforce the principles of tolerance and respect in our schools.

PAUL, MN – At a State Capitol news conference Tuesday, Governor Mark Dayton discussed his support for additional funding this session to expand access to high-speed broadband across Minnesota. Governor Dayton said he was optimistic after meeting with Danna MacKenzie, executive director of the state’s new Office of Broadband Development, that a legislative proposal for new broadband funding could be passed and signed into law this session.

    April 07, 2014 - North Star Mutual Insurance Company, headquartered in Cottonwood, Minn., is expanding due to an increase in services to markets throughout the Midwest. The company announced plans to invest $9.5 million and will create 12 new full-time permanent jobs.

  • Governor Dayton Appoints Eric P. Schieferdecker to Fill Ninth Judicial District Vacancy
    April 04, 2014 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Mr. Eric P. Schieferdecker as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District. Mr. Schieferdecker will be replacing the Honorable Donald J. Aandal, who resigned earlier this year. The judgeship will be chambered at Warren in Marshall County.
  • DC Group Expands in North Minneapolis
    April 04, 2014 - DC Group, a Minnesota-based maintenance and repair services group, announced plans to expand its North Minneapolis facility and will create at least 33 full-time permanent jobs. The company’s expected private investment in the expansion is over $6.2 million.
