July 19, 2012 - Saint Paul – Governor Dayton released the following statement today:
“In a recent interview, I was asked why so many professional football players had difficulties off the field. I made a poor analogy, by saying that the psychological adjustments they have to make from their contests to normal society were not unlike the difficulties experienced by returning veterans.
July 17, 2012 - Saint Paul – Lt. Governor Prettner will attend the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association annual conference from July 18-20 in Chicago, Illinois. Lt. Governor Prettner Solon will participate in policy discussions with Lt. Governor’s from across the country and is set to moderate a panel discussing options to increase access to healthy food alternatives in low-income areas.
July 13, 2012 - Governor Mark Dayton today released his 2011 federal and state tax returns, for which he had received filing extensions. Governor Dayton reported federal taxable income of $264,532. He paid $65,378 in federal income taxes, for an effective federal tax rate of 25%.
July 12, 2012 - Saint Paul, MN – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that a judgeship vacancy is occurring in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District Court. The Honorable Dale B. Lindman retired, leaving a vacancy to be chambered at Saint Paul in Ramsey County in the Second Judicial District.
July 11, 2012 - Saint Paul - Today, Governor Mark Dayton officially proclaimed July 2012 “Hire a Veteran Month.” Governor Dayton was joined at the event by Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Shellito, Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General Richard Nash, Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Mark Phillips, and Minnesota Yellow Ribbon Company US Bank.
July 10, 2012 - Saint Paul - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Mr. Robert A. Docherty as a District Court judge in Minnesota's Fifth Judicial District. Mr. Docherty will replace the Honorable John R. Rodenberg who was appointed to the Minnesota Court of Appeals earlier this year. This seat will be chambered in New Ulm at Brown County in Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District.
July 09, 2012 - Saint Paul, MN – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending four candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancies occurring in Minnesota’s First Judicial District. These vacancies were created upon the appointment of the Honorable Carol A. Hooten to the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the retirement of the Honorable William E. Macklin earlier this year.
July 03, 2012 - At a meeting of the National Education Association’s Representative Assembly today in Washington, D.C., NEA President Dennis Van Roekel announced that Governor Mark Dayton is this year’s recipient of the America’s Greatest Education Governor Award. The annual award recognizes and honors governors who have made major, state-level education strides that improve public schools.
