March 06, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton today proposed $616 million in tax cuts that would put more money in the pockets of middle class Minnesotans and benefit thousands of Minnesota businesses. The Governor’s proposal would allocate the remaining half of Minnesota’s $1.2 billion surplus to the state’s budget reserve, before allowing for up to $162 million in essential expenditures. The Governor’s proposal would increase the current budget reserve by $455 million if the legislature follows his recommendations – the first increase since 2001.
March 05, 2014 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of the Honorable Denise D. Reilly and Peter M. Reyes, Jr. as judges on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Judge Reilly and Mr. Reyes will be appointed to at-large seats, which will become vacant upon the retirements of the Honorable Thomas J. Kalitowski and the Honorable Terri J. Stoneburner on April 1, 2014.

February 28, 2014 - As the 2014 Legislative Session gets underway, Governor Mark Dayton and the Minnesota Legislature acted quickly to provide additional state funding that will help keep Minnesotans safe and warm during this winter’s propane emergency. The first bill signed into law by Governor Dayton this session (HF2374/SF1961) adds $20 million to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), to give approximately 180,000 Minnesotans the financial help they need to pay their heating bills this winter.
