The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is responsible for administering environmental permitting, compliance/enforcement, remediation and outreach programs to help Minnesota protect its environment.

Documentation of training and experience
Requirements:
An applicant must complete the spray irrigation seminar within three years of the exam date.
Have at least three months experience as a Type V operator.
Score at least 70% on the written exam.
Inspectors must also have conducted ten (10) inspections at a Type V facility in the presence of a certified inspector.

Exam fee - $15
Certification fee (after passing exam) - $15
Renewal fee - $15
Reinstatement fee - $30
Period of Issuance:
Three years.
Length of Determination Process:
Depends on applicant's training and experience and when required courses are offered.
Other Pertinent Information:
Operators of a Type V facility have the option to be certified under the wastewater rules (Minn. Rules 9400) or the waste disposal rules (Minn. Rules 7048). If an operator is certified with a wastewater Class D or higher certification, the operator is not required to be certified as a Type V facility operator.
