Register with the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State
Attend an Initial Motor Carrier Contact Seminar within 90 days.

A rule restricting the use of hand-held mobile telephones for drivers of commercial motor vehicles became effective Jan. 3, 2012. This rule applies to both interstate and Minnesota intrastate commercial motor vehicle drivers. For more information, view the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration press release.

Filing fee - $150
Per vehicle cab card fee - $75
Period of Issuance:
Permanent, subject to maintenance of insurance filing and annual vehicle registration.
Length of Determination Process:
Minimum of six weeks.
