Hunting, fishing, state forests and parks, lakes, rivers and streams, boating and water safety, trails, snowmobiling, skiing, education, enforcement, wildlife management, lands and minerals are managed by the DNR.
Requirements:
Applicant must submit Mining and Reclamation Plans covering the life of the mine.

Fee:
There's an application fee of $50,000 for a nonferrous metallic minerals operation.
There's also a supplemental application fee to cover reasonable costs for reviewing the application and preparing the permit to mine and monitoring construction of the mining facilities.
The commissioner is also authorized to require a bond, security, or other financial assurance to ensure compliance with the requirements of the permit.

The permit is required for all nonferrous metallic mineral mining operations.
The Department suggests that a pre-application conference be held to discuss the project and the type of permit information that is required.
