Economic assistance

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) offers economic assistance programs to help seniors live in dignity and as independently as possible.

  • Food and nutrition

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps eligible Minnesotans get the food they need for sound nutrition and well-balanced meals.

  • Housing

Find housing resources and programs for seniors and learn about options to stay in your community.

  • Income

Income assistance and other programs provide a safety net for people who struggle to meet their basic needs. Seniors, adults without children in the home and people with disabilities may get help through the General Assistance (GA) or Minnesota Supplemental Aid (MSA) programs.
