Jan. 1 coverage for new Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare applicants

If you applied through MNsure and were approved for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, see below for information about accessing care beginning Jan. 1, 2014.

Member Help Desk

Call 651-431-2670 or 1-800-657-3739 if you have questions about your eligibility.

The Member Help Desk will be open on Jan. 1, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Starting Jan. 2, 2014, Member Help Desk hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Member cards

You may not get your member card right away. We will mail your card by the end of December. Read the rest of the information on this page if you need to see a doctor or get a prescription filled.

What to show your doctor or pharmacy

If you were told you can get Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, but did not get a card:

  • Bring a copy of your notice with you to your doctor or pharmacy
  • Show your notice to the doctor or pharmacy
  • If you do not have a notice, print the screen from MNsure that shows you qualify for coverage and bring that with you
  • If you cannot print the screen from MNsure, bring any other information you have that says you qualify for coverage
  • Give your Social Security Number and birth date to your clinic or pharmacy if they need it to check your eligibility

What your doctor or pharmacy needs to do

We told all providers that members may not have received their member cards. Your doctor or pharmacy will be able to help you get services. They can check if you qualify through the automated systems. They can also call the Provider Call Center if they do not see your information in the system.

If we said you qualify, but your clinic or pharmacy does not have that information, ask them to call the Provider Call Center. The Call Center will be able to help them find out if you qualify for coverage.
