Do you want to explore a career in the construction and trades field?  Attend an event about prospects in that industry on Monday, March 31. You’ll learn from Lake Superior College reps about classes and educational programs to prepare you for construction and trades jobs.

An Arrowhead Builders Association rep will give an overview of the construction and trades field. And other presenters will discuss the demand for construction workers and the skills they seek in job applicants.

Other speakers include sheet metal workers, electricians and roofers who will tell you about the industry and what it takes for workers to succeed.

“The construction industry in Duluth is thriving,” said Betsy Harmon, field operations manager at the Minnesota WorkForce Center - Duluth. “Two important projects are underway, the construction of the national headquarters for maurices and the DTA Multimodal Transportation Center.”

State funding assisted both projects.

“Non-traditional and minority workers and career explorers are especially encouraged to consider positions in the construction and trades field,” Harmon added.  “We want people to know that the field offers many interesting jobs with good pay.”

Attendees will also have the chance to talk individually with presenters and reps following the program.

The meeting will be held at the local Minnesota WorkForce Center, 402 W. First St. (at the Duluth Athletic Club Building) at 11:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to everyone. No registration is required to attend.
