$3.7M Angel Tax Credits for Women-owned Businesses Still Available

DEED’s Angel Tax Credit Program offers a financial boost to businesses owned by women, but that funding will end Oct. 1.

There is a remaining $3.7 million in Angel Tax credits (as of Aug. 24) for businesses owned by women or minorities, or based in Greater Minnesota. After Oct. 1, any remaining tax credits not allocated to these designated groups will be made available to others.

Women play key roles in agriculture in Minnesota and Mexico. And they also face unique obstacles.

That’s why Minnesota and Mexico are signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) this week focusing on the ways women in agriculture can work together to help educate and support each other. The Women in Agriculture and Business MOU is one of five collaborations being signed during Gov. Mark Dayton’s trade mission to Mexico this week.

A Brief History of Minnesota Trade Missions

Gov. Mark Dayton spent the day Tuesday meeting with officials from Mexico's ministries of foreign affairs, agriculture, public education, as well as its trade and foreign investment arm.

While leading his fourth international trade mission, the governor promoted the state's exports, encouraged Mexican companies to startup and expand in Minnesota (or move existing U.S. operations here), inked cooperative agreements on agriculture and education, toured the facilities of a Minnesota-based company operating in Mexico, and met with executives of major U.S. companies operating in Mexico.

And that's just the beginning.
