    May 29, 2014 - Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Commissioner Katie Clark Sieben announced the appointment of Jeremy Hanson Willis and Blake Chaffee as Deputy Commissioners at the agency. Hanson Willis will be the department’s Deputy Commissioner of Workforce Development and Chaffee will serve as Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer.

    May 28, 2014 - DEED has awarded a $300,000 Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Program grant to Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical to train 410 employees of TRW Automotive in Winona.
  • DEED Awards 35 Small Cities Development Grants
    May 27, 2014 - Grants totaling $17.25 million were awarded to 35 communities in Greater Minnesota to help pay for rehabilitating housing and commercial structures and improving infrastructure. DEED awarded the funding under its Small Cities Development Program.

    May 20, 2014 - DEED has awarded a $270,257 grant to Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical to train 277 employees of Benedictine Health System, headquartered in Duluth. In this MJSP grant, the program leverages more than $690,000 from Benedictine Health System.

    May 19, 2014 - DEED has awarded a $300,000 grant to Dakota County Technical College to train 290 employees of BTD Manufacturing, in Detroit Lakes. The grant was awarded under the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Program -- and leverages more than $608,000 from the business.
  • State Sheds 4,200 Jobs in April
    May 15, 2014 - Minnesota employers shed 4,200 jobs in April, according to figures released today by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). March figures were revised downward from 2,600 jobs gained to 700 jobs gained.
