The major change would be to work more closely with the equity and diversity components to design programs and services designed to improve economic opportunities for low-income women of color, and women over 50 years of age. Also to work more closely with the SNAP and Employment and Training individuals.

Funds available under the WESA grant must NOT supplant other funds available for the same purposes.
Yes, but final approval would need to come from DEED. A single purchase over $5,000 would be considered “equipment.” The preference is to have other funds in addition to DEED funds to purchase equipment. Therefore, DEED would ask to see a rationale and reason for the purchase. We also would want to know how many people would be served and trained and a projection of how many people would be served over the life of the equipment.
