Manny Munson-Regala Hired to Lead Market Assurance Division
at the Minnesota Department of Commerce
(St. Paul, MN) Commissioner Glenn Wilson announced today that Manny Munson-Regala has been appointed Deputy Commissioner to lead the Market Assurance Division at the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Munson-Regala will begin his new position on January 21, 2008.
Munson-Regala brings to the Commerce Department 20 years of experience in the insurance industry working in regulatory affairs and government relations. He is currently Director of Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs at United Health Group, a position he has held since 2006.
Previously, he served as a Claim Attorney for State Farm Fire and Casualty and Corporate Counsel and Asst. Vice President of Government Affairs for St. Paul Companies. He also created the regulatory and government affairs functions for two St. Paul Companies subsidiaries and spin-offs.
"I am pleased we were able to hire someone with Mr. Munson-Regala's experience in regulatory affairs," said Wilson. "Manny's background and skills will allow him to have an immediate impact at the Department of Commerce in keeping the marketplace fair for consumers and the companies we regulate."
The Market Assurance Division includes the Department's investigation, securities registration, and insurance policy analysis units. Regulated industries include insurance, real estate, securities, collection agencies and notaries.
"I'm looking forward to taking my private sector experience and putting it to work for the citizens of Minnesota," added Munson-Regala.
Munson-Regala, 46, received his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He lives in St. Paul with his wife and three children.
