Energy Information Center: A Trusted Source to Answer your Energy Questions

Do you need guidance on a new energy efficiency project—an AC/furnace system, attic insulation, new windows and doors? Are you looking for ways to finance a renewable energy system? Not sure where to start on saving energy and reducing your utility bills?

You can get objective answers to these questions and many more by contacting the Energy Information Center, a free service provided by the Minnesota Department of Commerce. The Info Center can help you detect scammers or put you on the right track toward saving energy. As part of the Division of Energy Resources, Info Center staff will answer a range of questions to help Minnesota consumers and businesses make informed decisions about energy-related issues.

In addition to responding to questions via e-mail and phone, the Info Center offers printed materials and web content to help citizens raise their energy IQs. Consumer guides, fact sheets, energy tips, success stories, reports, and links to helpful sources are available at the Department of Commerce Division of Energy Resources website. The website is also a source of information for state programs that save energy, including energy assistance and weatherization services for low-income households.

The Info Center staff connects with thousands of Minnesotans each year via its call center and outreach events such as the Eco Experience at the Minnesota State Fair. Also, staff help educate the public via general consumer information and technical assistance. Minnesota consumers are encouraged to stay up to date on news, funding, and other energy-related opportunities by signing up for regular e-mail newsletters.
