  • Commerce Department teams up to crack down on unlicensed loan modification companies
    June 15, 2012 - SAINT PAUL, MN – In a coordinated effort with federal law enforcement agencies that executed search warrants at three locations associated with C.C. Brown Law Office in Utah Tuesday, Commissioner Mike Rothman issued a statement of charges against Charles Craig Brown, Chad Gettel, and C.C. Brown Law, LLC for allegedly engaging in unlicensed mortgage modification activities in Minnesota.

    June 15, 2012 - Minnesota Department of Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman and Janet Golden from the Tubman Senior Rights Alliance joined in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day activities through their training, “Preventing Elderly Investment Fraud.” The presentation was tailored to health care professionals, focusing on how to spot and report fraud and financial abuse within the elderly and vulnerable adult populations.

    June 11, 2012 - The Governor’s Task Force on Broadband will hold a public meeting in Falcon Heights, Minnesota at the TIES Building on Tuesday, June 12 from 10:00am – 3:20pm. The Task Force will hold two panel discussions focused on policy incentives and right-of-way, permitting, and dig-once strategies and an update from Senator Klobuchar’s Office on S1939, The Broadband Conduit Deployment Act of 2011. Members of the public and press are invited to attend the meeting.

Nearly 8,400 vehicles were stolen in Minnesota in 2010 alone, totaling more than $21.3 million in losses. But the state is teaming up with local law enforcement, county prosecutors, and community organizations to stop auto theft before it happens with a statewide auto theft prevention effort.
