Minnesota’s Xcel Energy and the Greater St. Paul and Greater Minneapolis Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) earned 2013 Inspiring Efficiency Awards at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) awards gala on Jan. 17 in Chicago.
Xcel and BOMA won for their “Kilowatt Crackdown” campaign that took more than 13 million kWh off the grid by challenging Twin Cities business owners to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings. Xcel also won an Impact Award for its Computer Efficiency Rebate Program, which encourages computer companies to manufacture and sell more energy-efficient PCs to customers in Xcel’s Minnesota service area. Rates analyst Joe Plummer from the Minnesota Division of Energy Resources presented the Impact Award. Read more about the awards.
