Service Provider Fees

Local service providers must collect 911, TAM (Telecommunications Access Minnesota), and TAP (Telephone Assistance Plan) fees from their customers and remit these fees to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The remittance forms and related information are available at the Department of Public Safety's website at:

https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/ecn/programs/911/pages/fee-remittance-forms.aspx

Currently, the fees are:

911: 80 cents (increased from 75 cents on August 1, 2010)

TAM: 10 cents (increased from 6 cents on August 1, 2010)

TAP: 7 cents (increased from 2 cents on August 1, 2008)

Minnesota Rules subpart 7817.0900 requires a telephone company to maintain adequate records of surcharge revenues, expenses, and credits related to the program, and to report that information on the prescribed TAP Form. The TAP Reporting forms are available at the Public Utilities Commission website at www.puc.state.mn.us/telecom/index.htm
