Resident and Nonresident Salesperson License

To apply for one of these license types go to www.pulseportal.com and submit an application electronically.
Only a licensed real estate company can submit these types of license applications.

After selecting "Minnesota Department of Commerce" as the program and "Real Estate" as the board, click on "Submit a Resident License Application" or "Submit a Nonresident License Application" and follow the necessary steps. The licensed real estate company can also use the PULSE portal to check the status of a salesperson application, and after it has been approved, they can print a copy of the salesperson license. The licensed real estate company can also use the PULSE portal to make profile changes, print other licenses, and process renewals. Please remember that it is the responsibility of the real estate company and the licensee to maintain the individual's license.

General Application Information for a Resident or Nonresident Salesperson License

• The license fee is $135. In addition, the online system vendor also charges processing fees. The term of a salesperson license is two years, expiring on June 30.

• A salesperson must be licensed to act on behalf of a licensed Minnesota broker. The license of each salesperson remains in the possession of the licensed Minnesota broker with whom the salesperson is affiliated until the salesperson ends affiliation with the broker.

• If you are an applicant who holds an active salesperson license in a reciprocal state (Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wisconsin), you must fax a letter of certification (no more than 90 days old) documenting that you currently hold an active salesperson license. Applicants with an active Wisconsin salesperson license must also fax course completion certificate(s) documenting completion of a Minnesota salesperson course of at least 13 hours and documentation of the passing results for the Minnesota State Laws portion of the written examination (get exam information on our website). • If you are an applicant who holds an active salesperson license in a non-reciprocal state, you must fax course completion certificates for Minnesota pre-licensing Course 1, Course 2 and Course 3. Applicant must have passed Course 1 prior to taking the salesperson examination. Course 2 and Course 3 may be completed before or after taking the examination. You must also fax your passing results for the Minnesota State Laws portion of the written examination (get exam information on our website).
