Utility Annual Reporting


Annual reporting forms for electric and gas utilities.

Electric Utility Data Reporting

All electric utilities authorized to do business in Minnesota are required to file an annual data report pursuant to MN Rules Chapter 7610. This information will be used to identify emerging energy trends based on supply and demand, conservation and public health and safety factors, and to determine the level of statewide and service area needs.

The report forms are due July 1, each year. From the column to the right download "Spreadsheet: Electric Utility Data Report" for use to complete and submit your report. You can also download "Instructions: Electric Utility Data Report" to help you complete the spreadsheet. Then email the completed spreadsheet and any required attachments (if available in an electronic format) to the following email address: rule7610.reports@state.mn.us.

Electric Utility Reporting on Distributed Generation

All Minnesota electric utilities are required to report on energy generation, tarrifs, and interconnection status for customer-owned distrubed generation facilities.  The data will be used to assess energy sources that exist in parallell with utility-owned generation.  Reports should be e-filed in dockets as identified below.

Cogeneration and Small Power Production Tariff (Schedules A-H)
Due: March 1
Reporting period: the tariff is effective for 12 months after the filing date
Statute/Rule reference: Rules 7835.0300 – 7835.1200 (reporting requirements are identified in the rules)
Comments: Wholesale suppliers may provide Schedules A, B, and G to their members to facilitate reporting.

Due: November 1
Reporting Period: data from October 1 of the previous year through September 30 of the current year

Gas & Electric Jurisdictional Reporting Notice

Gas and Electric Companies are required to file a Jurisdictional Annual Report by May 1.  Please download the blank form, complete, save as an excel file and then submit electronically using the DOC/PUC eFiling system https://www.edockets.state.mn.us/EFiling/home.jsp.

Natural Gas Utility Data Reporting

All natural gas utilities authorized to do business in Minnesota are required to file an annual data report pursuant to MN Rules Chapter 7610. This information will be used to identify emerging energy trends based on supply and demand, conservation and public health and safety factors, and to determine the level of statewide and service area needs.

Three of the natural gas utilities (Centerpoint Energy, Xcel Energy and Minnesota Energy Resources) are required to complete the Peak-Day Forecast section of the annual report. The corresponding worksheet in the downloadable spreadsheet file is labeled "Peak Day Forecast."

The report forms are due July 1, each year. From the column to the right download "Spreadsheet: Natural Gas Utility Data Report" to complete and submit your report. You can also download the other forms and instructions to help you complete the spreadsheet. Then email the completed spreadsheet and any required attachments (if available in an electronic format) to the following email address: rule7610.reports@state.mn.us.
