The DOC handles complaints about the businesses we regulate and oversee in a variety of ways. Find out how to proceed with filing a complaint.

Do Not Call Complaint Form
Download, print and fill out this form to file any complaints about calls you receive on your residential phone that you think are in violation of the Do Not Call rules.

Insurance Complaints 
If you are in a dispute with an insurance company or insurance agent in Minnesota and have been unable to resolve it to your satisfaction, the Minnesota Department of Commerce may be able to help.

Licensed Industries 
Licensed industries include: Abstractor, Adjusters, Appraisers, Collection Agencies, Currency Exchange, Credit Service Orgs., Money Transmitters, Mortgage Originators, Notaries, and Petrofund. (NOTE: Real Estate, and Securities listed separately.)

Minnesota Relay strives to provide the best relay services available. If you experience difficulties, provide us with detailed feedback.

Petrofund Complaints
To register a complaint about consultants or contractors registered with the Petrofund, please call 651-215-1775 or 800-638-0418. Or email petrofund.commerce@state.mn.us Formal complaint procedures are the same as for other licensed businesses. 

Real Estate Complaints  
Although the Department of Commerce licenses and regulates real estate agents, our authority is limited to initiating administrative disciplinary action against an agent's license if he or she has engaged in a violation of law.

Securities Complaints    
We investigate complaints against persons and business entities accused of violating the registration and antifraud provisions of Minnesota Statute 80A and supporting rules.

State Bank or Financial Service Complaint Procedure   
Most complaints can be resolved if the consumer contacts the financial institution or company directly. If you have not already done so, please contact the institution or company and attempt to resolve the problem. If direct contact is not successful. 

Telecom Complaints
Details on how to file complaints concerning local and in-state long distance telephone service, wireless service, billing disputes and more. 

Unsolicited Fax Messages   
Many people receive unsolicited fax messages from sales offices and others. The Department of Commerce does not oversee this type of activity, but we have some information to help you.
